Pricing Your Gig Fairly

Pricing too high loses clients. Pricing too low undervalues your work and attracts customers who will never be satisfied. Finding the sweet spot is one of the most important skills for a WeDo performer.
Understanding the market:
Before setting your prices, research what others charge for similar services in your area. WeDo makes this easy — browse other performer profiles in your category and location. Note the price range for your service type.
Typical price ranges (Dhaka, 2026):
- Basic electrical work (fan installation, socket repair): 500-1,500 BDT per job
- Plumbing (leak fix, faucet replacement): 800-2,000 BDT per job
- House cleaning (standard 2-bedroom): 1,500-3,000 BDT per session
- AC servicing: 1,500-3,000 BDT per unit
- Painting (per room): 3,000-8,000 BDT depending on size
- Carpentry (furniture repair): 1,000-5,000 BDT depending on complexity
Factors to include in your pricing:
1. Materials cost — Always quote materials separately from labor. This transparency builds trust. If the customer wants to supply materials themselves, adjust accordingly.
2. Travel time — If a job requires traveling more than 30 minutes, factor in transport costs. Be upfront about this: "My rate is 1,500 BDT plus 200 BDT transport for locations outside Mirpur."
3. Complexity and risk — Dangerous tasks (electrical work near water, working at heights) should command higher rates. You are being paid for skill and risk, not just time.
4. Your experience level — New performers should start 10-20% below market average to build reviews. Once you have 20+ positive reviews, gradually raise prices to market rate or above.
5. Season and demand — Prices can flex with demand. AC servicing commands premium rates in April-May. Painting services are in demand before Eid. Adjust your rates seasonally.
Common pricing mistakes:
- Quoting without seeing the job: Always ask for photos or visit the site before giving a final price. Surprises lead to disputes.
- Not including cleanup: Your quote should include leaving the workspace clean. Customers notice and review this.
- Underpricing to win bids: Racing to the bottom attracts problem customers and burns you out. A fair price for quality work is sustainable.
- Forgetting follow-up costs: If a job might need a return visit (paint touch-up, plumbing check after 48 hours), include this in your original quote.
The golden pricing rule:
Charge what makes the job worth doing well. If a price is so low that you rush the work or cut corners, everyone loses — you get a bad review, the customer gets poor service, and WeDo's reputation suffers.
